5 SAFE OPERATION
en-18
&CAUTION
Never engage in rough and dangerous opera-
tion. Accidents can occur. Always drive with
care, good judgment and responsibility.
&CAUTION
Never pass other trucks moving in the same dir-
ection at intersections, places with poor visibility
and other dangerous places.
&CAUTION
Stop the truck completely and sound the horn if
necessary at corners or at the stop sign, when
approaching intersections or crosswalk, when
exiting an aisle, or other locations where the vis-
ion is limited or obstructed. Always proceed with
caution. If your plant has traffic mirrors, use
them.
&CAUTION
Avoid running over loose objects, open or loose
drainage channel covers, posts or gratings. Lift
trucks need smooth, level floors for safe opera-
tion. Remove hazardous loose objects rather
than driving over or around them. Avoid holes
and bumps that can cause a load to fall off from
lifted forks.
&CAUTION
Do not strike objects with the fork tips. Keep the
forks low, and use extreme care when ap-
proaching any person standing near a fixed ob-
ject.
&CAUTION
Never turn off the key switch while traveling. If
the key switch is turned off while traveling, the
power steering system stops working and the
steering suddenly becomes heavy, leading to a
very dangerous situation. The hydraulic brake
assist system also stops working by turning off
the key switch
&CAUTION
Do not put your foot on the brake pedal
more than needed while traveling. It may
cause the brakes to overheat, resulting in
damage to your truck.
Do not put your foot on the inching pedal
while traveling. The inching pedal is used
only to make fine adjustment when picking
up a load on the forks (IC truck).
&CAUTION
Do not place unnecessary objects in the oper-
ator's compartment, on the seat or counter-
weight. The objects could interfere with opera-
tion of the forklift.
