6.5 Planned maintenance
Before starting the maintenance, check the
following:
• Always use safety equipment (safety hel-
met, protective shoes, gloves, eye protec-
tion, etc.)
• Wear goggles and a respirator when using
compressed air.
• Always use the correct tools for the job.
• Perform the check on level ground with firm
footing and at the place with good ventila-
tion.
• Always remove the key before the check.
Disconnect the battery plug for the battery
truck.
• Lower the forks and other moving parts to
the ground. Put the control levers in neutral
position.
• When performing the checks with forks lif-
ted, use some measure to prevent the forks
from falling.
• Visually inspect for oil leaks. Never use the
bare hand.
• Mop up oil or grease spills immediately.
• Exposed flames are strictly forbidden when
handling
flammable
materials
such
as
oilsoaked cloths.
• While working on the truck, be careful not to
fall off.
• Never use the mast in place of stairs.
6 MAINTENANCE
NOTICE
Only qualified and authorized personnel
shall maintain and inspect the forklift trucks.
For safe work practices, ask the Service
Centre about inspections other than routine
pre-operation and weekly inspections. The
Service Centre has qualified staffs who are
fully trained in the equipment you use.
Make repairs in safe locations and condi-
tions. Always inspect and repair the truck in
a safe environment. Be on the alert for po-
tential fire hazards, when fixing fuel and ig-
nition systems. Disconnect the battery be-
fore working on the electrical system.
We strongly suggest to only use genuine re-
placement parts for all parts to be replaced
on the forklift. Forklift trucks won't last
forever but they will give you additional
years of service if you replace old or broken
parts with parts that are comparable in
safety and function with those installed by
the factory. Contact the Service Centre.
Once all inspections and repairs are com-
pleted, check for any oil leaks, unusual
noise or abnormal operation in any of the
components.
6.5.1 Weekly maintenance
To prevent malfunctions and accidents, it is
important to perform weekly maintenance
together with pre-operation check. According to
the "Weekly Maintenance" section in the
Operator Manual, inspect the trucks thoroughly
to insure safety and pleasant working
conditions. Have necessary adjustments or
replacements performed by qualified service
staffs or at the Service Centre.
6.5.2 Periodic maintenance and
replacement
Periodic maintenance and replacement are
necessary to keep the forklift trucks running
safely and smoothly. The Periodic Replacement
Table and Periodic Maintenance Table are
available in the Operator Manual.
