&CAUTION
In case of thunder:
If thunder can be heard in the distance, stop
charging the battery and disconnect the
charging plug.
If thunder can be heard close by, do not
touch the power supply plug or cord be-
cause you may receive an electric shock if
lightning strikes close by.
6.1.5 Replacing the battery
The forklift truck battery must be replaced by the
one with the same voltage as the original and
with permitted weight, which is indicated on the
nameplate. The battery weight affects the
truck's stability and braking capacity.
Remove and install batteries with great care
according to the instructions in the Operator
Manual.
6.2 Fuel
6.2.1 Fuel types
Use the correct fuel type for your forklift. The
use of the wrong fuel will impair forklift
performance and may lead to unpredictable
faults or damage.
Always use unleaded gasoline for the gasoline
engine model. Use of leaded gasoline, inferior
quality gasoline or diesel oil may affect the
engine adversely, causing a damage to it.
Always use diesel oil for the diesel engine
model. Use of gasoline or kerosene may affect
the engine adversely, causing a damage to it.
6.2.2 Refueling
Refuel only in a safe, well-ventilated place,
equipped with appropriate fire extinguishing
equipment.
6 MAINTENANCE
Always retighten the fuel cap after refueling.
Make sure the cap on the fuel tank is closed
tightly so that no dust, dirt, rain or snow can
enter.
In cold climates, always fill the tank up to the
top. This minimizes the air within the tank, thus
reduces possible freezing from moisture
condensation, rust in the fuel system and hard
starting.
&CAUTION
Any open flame is strictly forbidden at refueling
stations. The fuel is flammable and can ignite
and explode. Turn off the engine, remove the
key and turn off the headlights when refueling.
Do not smoke.
&CAUTION
Mistakes in fuel handling can cause serious ac-
cidents. Open the fuel cap slowly. Do not open
the fuel cap suddenly, as fuel may spray out of
the filling port. Always mop up any fuel spill.
6.2.3 LPG refueling
LPG is heavier than air, and can accumulate in
low areas and even on clothing. Any flame or
spark can cause a fire and lead to a serious
accident.
LPG must be transported and stored in sealed
containers with special protective caps.
In the event of problems or faults, before taking
any action always notify the person in charge.
The truck must not be used until all the
problems have been eliminated.
LPG tank must conform to the current
regulations for pressurised containers in the
country where the truck is used.
LPG tank must be handled with care: never
throw, drop, roll or drag it.
