5.1 Pre-operation check
At the start of every work day or shift, check the
condition of the truck according to the Operator
Manual. Inspection procedure and service data
are also indicated in the Operator Manual. Don't
drive a truck that is not in good condition. Park it
and tag.
&CAUTION
Do not touch oil leaks with bare hands.
Report any damage, malfunction or unsafe
condition to the supervisor or the Service
Centre immediately. Operators must not at-
tempt to make repairs or adjustments by
themselves unless properly trained and au-
thorized to do so.
Do not use the truck until it is repaired by a
qualified service technicians or at the Ser-
vice Centre.
5.2 To start the truck
5.2.1 Before starting
Check for the hazardous conditions before
starting work. Look around for conditions that
may be dangerous or unsafe. All forklift trucks
are not the same, some have greater capacities
than others. Make certain that your truck is
suitable for the working conditions at hand. Use
only the appropriately approved trucks in places
where there is danger of explosion and fire.
5.2.2 Getting on and off the truck
Get on and off the forklift truck from the left side
only. Getting on and off from the right side is
permitted only in an emergency. When getting
on and off the truck, always use the assist grip,
and maintain three points of contact with the
truck. Never grab the steering wheel, or you
could lose your balance.
Be sure that your hands are clean and dry to
prevent slipping when grabbing the assist grip.
When getting on the truck, make sure the
bottom of your shoes are clean and dry, to
prevent slipping.
Never jump when getting on/off the truck. Do
not get on/off the moving forklift. Always bring
your truck to a complete stop, lower the forks,
set the brake, and if appropriate, turn off the
truck, before getting off.
Only operate the truck from a seated position,
with the seat belt on - never standing on the
floor or leaning outside the operator's
compartment.
5.3 Traveling and maneuvering
5.3.1 Starting
Before starting the truck, make sure the
direction lever is in the desired position, and
ensure your path of travel is clear of pedestrians
and objects.
