&WARNING
Never allow the battery electrolyte to come into
contact with the eyes, skin or clothing. The elec-
trolyte used in battery contains diluted sulfuric
acid, which causes burns and/or blindness. If
battery electrolyte contacts your skin or clothing,
flush the area immediately with cold water. If the
electrolyte gets in the eyes, flush the eyes im-
mediately with cold water and contact a doctor.
Make sure that a shower and eye wash station
are nearby.
&WARNING
Avoid contact of the battery with a part of the
body during installation, maintenance or inspec-
tion. The battery produces a high-voltage cur-
rent which can cause electric shocks and/or
burns if the battery comes into contact.
&WARNING
Never clean or dust the top of the battery and/or
the connection terminals with a dry cloth, and do
not cover the battery with a plastic sheet. This
can result in a buildup of static electricity and
cause an explosion.
&WARNING
Do not place any tool or a piece of metal on top
of the battery. This can short circuit the battery
and cause a fire or an explosion.
6 MAINTENANCE
&CAUTION
Do not overdischarge. It is recommended to
charge when the battery level is below 20%.
When the battery capacity indicator indicates
overdischarge and outputs the warning sounds,
stop operation and charge the battery. Re-
peated overdischarge will shorten the service
life of the battery.
&CAUTION
Do not use the charger to operate the forklift.
&CAUTION
Do not use any power source other than the
battery installed on the truck.
6.1.2 Specific gravity check
Perform specific gravity check at least once a
week. Check that charging is performed
properly and that there is no extreme difference
in the battery cells.
Specific gravity after charging: 1.280 (at 20°C)
Specific gravity after discharging: 1.150 (at
20°c)
If the specific gravity is below 1.150 (at 20°C),
be sure to charge until the specific gravity
becomes 1.280 (at 20°C).
