down a slope. Do not cross a slope diagonally.
Lift the forks only enough to clear the inclined
floor and tilt the forks backward as far as
possible.
Tra~el up and down a slope with the load facing
uphill to keep the load from falling down. Never
travel with the load facing downhill.
When the truck is unloaded, travel up and down
a slope with the forks facing downhill.
Use an assistant when traveling up and down a
slope when vision is obstructed. Have someone
guide you and make sure that the way is clear.
When traveling down a slope, travel slowly while
adjusting the speed using an accelerator pedal
and applying the brake as necessary. Never
turn off the key while traveling on a slope.
5.3. 7 Ramps, dockboards, trailers
Be sure to check the strength of the floor not
limited to railcars, elevators, upper floors,
ramps, highway trucks, trailers or dockboards
when traveling. Never assume these surfaces
can support the weight of your forklift and load.
The weight of a loaded forklift is the weight of
the forklift itself plus the weight of the load being
carried.
Make sure that ramps or dockboards are
properly sized for the job and fastened securely
to prevent moving or slipping.
