5.7 Unexpected emergencies
(tip over)
5. 7 .1 The causes of tip over
The forklift truck can tip over whether it is
loaded or unloaded if not operated properly. A
truck tip over can be caused by:
• Overloading and/or off-center loading
• Traveling, braking or turning too fast
• Traveling, braking or turning with the elev-
ated load and/or mast tilted forward
• Careless load handling operation
• Uneven floor conditions
5.7.2 In case of tip over
There are two types of truck tip over: a forward
tip over and a side tip over. The procedure to
follow in the event of tip over varies depending
on the type of tip over and the class of forklift
that you may use.
Serious injury or death can occur if the operator
is trapped between the truck and the ground or
other objects in a truck tip over. Observe the
following procedure to minimize the risk of
serious injury or death in case of a tip over:
(1) Do not jump! If your truck starts to tip over,
do not jump and stay in the seat.
(2)
Hold on tight to the steering wheel , brace
your feet and stay with the truck.
