E. PUTTING ON
ND T KING OFF THE HELMET
1. PUTTING ON THE HELMET
Note:
For the use of the chin guard hoop, refer to Section D.8.
For the use of the chinstrap/fastener system, refer to Section
D.9.
1. If fitted, remove the chin guard hoop and make sure the sun visor
is retracted into the helmet to make the helmet easier to put on.
2. Open the chinstrap and the chinstrap comfort pad.
3. Grasp the helmet by both side sections and
pull these apart slightly (alternatively, you can
hold the helmet by the ends of the chinstrap
alone and pull these apart slightly).
4. The helmet is now easy to pull over your
head. When doing this, make sure the
chinstrap doesn't end up inside the helmet
(e.g. through trapping it with your thumbs).
5. Fasten the chinstrap comfort pad (by means of the Velcro
fastener).
6. Fasten the chinstrap by pushing the metal tongue into the lock so
that you hear it engage properly.
7. Make sure the chinstrap passes under the
chin and fits firmly.
8. Insert the chin guard hoop with the help
of the integrated guide ridges into the lock
openings provided at left and right.

9. Lock the chin guard hoop onto the helmet shell by pushing the
ends of the chin guard hoop into the catch openings at left and
right until you hear it snap into place. To do this, hold one side of
the chin guard hoop with one hand and the back of the helmet with
the other. Pressing together in opposite directions from front and
back makes it easier to snap the hoop into position.
10. Check that the chin guard hoop is firmly fixed by pulling lightly on
it. Repeat the locking operation if the chin guard hoop is not firmly
engaged.
Points 8, 9 and 10 are only relevant when using the optional chin guard hoop.
Note:
Check regularly that the chinstrap is correctly positioned and
adjusted to the correct length (see Section F.2.).
