Proportional control with 1 electrode.
The open position of the Michelangelo Hand is the initial position for lateral mode, opposition
mode and the neutral position. It is only possible to exit the neutral position by fully opening
the Michelangelo Hand.
Only when the Michelangelo Hand is in the fully opened hand position does it change to the neut­
ral position if the hand is not controlled via the electrode signals. While closing to the neutral pos­
ition, the system builds up the minimum gripping force (approx. 15 N).
Opening:
Proportional. The OPENING speed is determined by the level and speed of the muscle contrac­
tion.
Closing:
Proportional. The CLOSING speed and gripping force is determined by the speed of the muscle
relaxation.
Stopping:
Through very slow muscle relaxation via the electrode. The Michelangelo Hand remains in the
current position.
Example 1:
After opening, the user relaxes the muscle at low speed. Closing takes place proportionally to the
decline of the electrode signal. The object is grasped with low force.
Example 2:
After opening, the user relaxes the muscle at the fastest speed. The Michelangelo Hand closes at
the fastest speed and grasps using the maximum gripping force.
