3.3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATORS
The product is intended for professional use. The operators, in addition to the necessary technical knowledge, must have attained
specific experience in the health sector: in particular, they must have acquired practical skills in the use of stretchers of the self-loading
type. They must also be in the appropriate physical condition, that is, have the muscular strength and coordination to guarantee the
maximum level of security for the patient.
The self-loading stretcher has been designed for ease of loading into the ambulance, and it can also be used for long transfers over
surfaces that are approximately level and horizontal, both internally, such as corridors and rooms, and externally, such as courtyards.
Do not use the stretcher to transport patients over uneven surfaces and/or difficult terrain or significant
gradients.
To operate in secure and efficient conditions the stretcher must be used by at least one qualified and trained operator at the foot end
and at least one qualified and trained operator on the head and feet side (figure 9) of the stretcher, where there can be found, in a
position that is comfortable and easily reached, all the equipment necessary to load the stretcher on to the ambulance. The qualified
operator must make certain, before and during the journey, that the patient is firmly attached to the stretcher with the appropriate safety
belts (§ 7.2.) and that the lateral handles are raised.
In particular cases, the presence of other operators / supplementary assistants may be requested.
In each case the position of all the operators must always be facing the patient.
The table shows the number and type of operators recommended, according to the type of operation and the weight of the patient
