1. position yourselves at the sides of the stretcher (foot end and head end – figure 11);
2. with the palms of your hands facing upwards, take hold of the ends of the tubular section of the supporting structure at the head
end and foot end;
It is absolutely forbidden to take hold of the stretcher using the side handles or the rear handle.
3. raise the front and rear legs simultaneously, until the legs are completely extended;
4. to avoid injury to the patient, lower the stretcher slowly until the wheels touch ground and make it possible to move the stretcher.
It is absolutely forbidden to use the control levers while the stretcher is being raised.
Make sure that the front and rear legs are completely extended.
B. Complete lowering of the stretcher
This operation can be undertaken by a single operator but only when the stretcher is empty (without the
patient).
To lower the stretcher (folded legs) proceed as follows:
1. stand at the foot of the stretcher;
2. with your hands facing down, hold the frame tube and lift up the rear part of the stretcher until the loading castors touch the
ground;
3. move your hands close to the control levers, with your left hand operate the green safety lever to unlock the front legs and with
your right hand operate the green lever to unlock the front legs;
4. with your left hand release the green safety lever and operate the red lever to unlock the rear legs;
5. gently set the stretcher down onto the floor.
