4.2. STORAGE
If the stretcher is not immediately put into service, it should be kept in a closed, dry and clean place, to ensure the perfect conservation
and efficiency of its components
The volume and the dimensions of the package are such that it can be moved by hand by two operators.
If the stretcher, while still in the appropriate packaging, must be stacked, it is
recommended that, to avoid damage, the number of levels shown in the picture
should not be exceeded.
In all cases the place of storage must not constitute an
obstacle or danger to the passage of vehicles or persons.
4.3. ENTRY INTO SERVICE
The self-loading stretcher can be put into service only when there is absolute certainty of the efficiency of all its components and
mechanisms. To this end, specialist technicians of ME.BER. conduct rigorous checks during construction and a meticulous final test of
every stretcher. Even so, it is recommended that, prior to putting the stretcher into service, a further preventive check should be carried
out, as indicated in the table (for the various stages see § 2.3 and the following points).
Functioning of the levers that release the front and rear legs
Functioning of the levers that release the variable height
Functioning of the security levers
Functioning of the unidirectional system of the wheels (rear)
Functioning of the brake on the fixed front wheels
Opening and closing of the lateral handle levers
Control of the inclination of the backrest in various positions
Inclination of the footrest in the "Trendelenburg" position
Rotation of the load bearing trolley
If the test produces positive results then the stretcher is ready for use, Otherwise, the Technical Assistance Service ME.BER.,should
be contacted immediately (§ 7.1.).
The test of functions should be repeated periodically (§ 5.1.), to ensure the perfect efficiency of the product and
the highest possible conditions of security.
4.4. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The use of the stretcher involves the preliminary operations to configure it, then the procedures for transferring the patient on to the
stretcher, the handling of the stretcher and loading/unloading it on to/off the ambulance.
If it is suspected that the patient has suffered spinal, cervical or lombo sacrali injury, the immediate transfer
of the patient to appropriate equipment is recommended, such as a spinal table, removing the stretcher if
necessary.
The personnel nominated to use the stretcher must first read and assimilate the instructions contained in this
manual, and then make themselves familiar with its various features.
4.4.1. CONFIGURATION OF THE STRETCHER
A. Raising the entire stretcher
This operation can be carried out even with the patient on the stretcher.
To be able to raise the stretcher when it is in the folded position (stretcher completely lowered) follow the stages (for the number and
type of operator see § 3.3):
