8.3 Connecting the charge controller
The SunSaver charge controller is mounted on a vertical surface in the control cabinet.
Adequate space for air circulation is provided above and below the controller.
NOTE: Damage to the charge controller due to high current
Make sure that the current strength of the solar panel and the loads does not exceed the
rated values of the SunSaver model installed.
The six charge controller connection terminal blocks are numbered and must be connected
in the following order.
1. First connect the batteries to the terminals [1] and [2] in accordance with the wiring
diagram (see Figure 4-3 on page 4-7).
NOTE: Damage to the charge controller due to short circuits
Make sure that live wires do not touch the metal housing of the charge controller.
2. Connect the solar panels to the terminals [3] and [4] in accordance with the wiring
diagram (see Figure 4-3 on page 4-7).
The green "CHARGING" LED lights up as soon as solar panels generate current.
3. Finally, connect the loads to terminal blocks [5] and [6] according to the wiring diagram
(see Figure 4-3 on page 4-7).
If the red "LOAD DISCONNECT" LED is on, the battery voltage is too low. Recharge the
batteries prior to starting up the system.
4. When using a sealed battery, jumper terminal blocks [5] and "SEALED OR FLOODED
SELECT" using the supplied terminal block jumper (1 in Figure 8-2).
NOTE: Damage to the battery by removing the terminal block jumper
The solar system is supplied with a battery (sealed battery).
• To set the battery type when using this battery, the terminal block jumper [6] that is
already inserted must be left in the charge controller!

Do not connect any cables to the "SEALED OR FLOODED SELECT" terminal block.
5. Ground the negative pole of the battery to ensure efficient grounding of the solar
system.
