DAILY MAINTENANCE
1. Inspect the stoma site for redness, swelling, discomfort, or gastric leakage.
2. Rotate the MIC-KEY and gently clean the skin around the stoma.
3. Flush the MIC-KEY after each use with 10 ml to 20 ml water.
4. Verify balloon volume once a week. Correct balloon volume is usually 5 ml (3 ml for 12 Fr.). Aspirate all of the liquid from
balloon and refill to the original prescribed amount.
BALLOON LONGEVITY
Precise balloon life cannot be predicted. Silicone balloons generally last 1–8 months, but the life span of the balloon varies
according to several factors. These factors may include medications, volume of water used to inflate the balloon, gastric pH,
and tube care.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
1. Remove water from the balloon with a luer slip Syringe (Figure 2,A).
2. Rotate and gently remove the MIC-KEY from the stoma. Water soluble lubricant may help to remove it.
3. Replace the MIC-KEY following the steps described under Placement Procedure.
