9 Design

9.1 The Measuring Pro station

The Measuring Pro station is a checking and measuring device.
The major tasks associated with checking are gathering data (actual values) and comparing these with pre-
specified values (set points). These then result in decisions such as "workpiece good/bad" or "yes/no".
Two fork light barriers are attached to the conveyor for positioning and for detection of workpieces. With the
help of the time sequence of the signal states of the fork light barriers, it is possible to distinguish between
MPS cartons and MPS workpieces. After being positioned on the belt the workpieces are supplied to the
appropriate module by a rotary lifting cylinder with a gripper.
