AVENTICS | Bus Coupler AES/Valve Driver AV, PROFINET IO | R412018140–BAL–001–AG

Loading general station description
The GSDML file with texts in English and German for the series AES bus coupler for
PROFINET IO is located on the provided CD R412018133. The file can also be downloaded online
from the AVENTICS Media Center.
Each valve system is equipped with a bus coupler; some contain valves and/or I/O modules,
depending on your order. The GSDML file contains the data for all modules that require a data
assignment by the user in the data area of the controller. The GSDML file with the parameter data
of the modules is loaded in a configuration program, which allows the user to conveniently assign
the individual modules' data and set the parameters.
To configure the valve system PLC, copy the GSDML file on CD R412018133 to the computer
containing the PLC configuration program.
You can use PLC configuration software from various manufacturers for the PLC configuration.
The descriptions in the following sections therefore focus on the basic procedure for configuring
the PLC.
5.3
Configuring the bus coupler in the fieldbus system
Before you can configure the individual components of the valve system, you need to assign the bus
coupler a clear name and configure it as a slave in the fieldbus system using your PLC configuration
software.
1. Assign a clear name to the bus coupler using the planning tool (see section 9.3 "Assigning
names, IP addresses, and subnet masks" on page 89).
2. Configure the bus coupler as a slave module.

Slot sequence
The components installed in the unit are actuated via the slot procedure of the PROFINET IO,
which mirrors the physical configuration of the components.
To the right of the bus coupler (AES-D-BC-PNIO) in the valve zone, the slots are numbered starting
with the first valve driver board and continuing to the last valve driver board on the right end
of the valve unit (slot 1 to slot 9 in Fig. 3). Bridge cards are not taken into account. Supply boards
and UA-OFF monitoring boards occupy one slot (see slot 7 in Fig. 3).
The numbering is continued in the I/O zone (slot 10 to slot 12 in Fig. 3). There, numbering
is continued starting from the bus coupler to the left end.
