3. Wipe off dirt from the inside of the air filter body (5-17) and the
cover using a damp cloth. Be careful to prevent dirt from entering
the clean chamber (6-18) reaching the carburettor.

Prevent dust, dirt and debris from entering the
cleaning chamber (air filter body) during air filter maintenance.

6.4.4 Fuel filter maintenance

WARNING!
Gasoline is a highly flammable substance
which can explode under certain conditions. Do not smoke
or come near the engine with flames or sparks.
Check if any water or sediment has accumulated in the fuel filter
(1). If so, take the engine to your authorised Honda dealer.

6.4.5 Spark plug maintenance

Never use a spark plug with an unsuitable thermal
range.
To guarantee proper engine operation, the spark plug electrode
spacing must be correct and the spark plugs must be free of carbon

1. Remove the spark plug caps and use a spark plug wrench (1) to
remove each spark plug.
WARNING!
hot. Be careful not to burn yourself.
2. Visually check the spark plugs. Discard the spark plug if it is worn
or if the insulator is chipped or cracked. Clean the spark plugs with
a wire brush if you want to reuse them.
3. Use a thickness gauge to measure the electrode gap (2) of the
spark plug, correcting it if necessary by bending the side elec-
trode (3). The gap must be: 0.7 - 0.8 mm.
4. Make sure the spark plug washer (4) is in good condition and
screw in the spark plug by hand to avoid damaging the spark
plug threads.
5. Once the spark plug rests on its base, tighten it with a spark plug
wrench (1) in order for it to compress the washer.
NOTE
turn after it is set in order to compress the washer. When reinstall-
ing a used spark plug, tighten it 1/8 1/4 turn until it is in place to
compress the washer.
IMPORTANT
spark plugs are not tightened correctly, they may overheat and
damage the engine.
6.4.6 Replacing wheels
Stop the machine on flat ground
and put a block under a load-
bearing part of the frame on
the side that the wheel is to be
changed.
The wheels are held by a snap
ring (1) which can be removed
with a screwdriver.
The rear wheels are directly coupled to the differential axle shaft and
fastened by a key that forms part of the wheel's hub.
NOTE
make sure they have the same diameter, and check that cutting-
means assembly is horizontal to prevent an uneven cut.
IMPORTANT
grease on the axle and carefully refit the snap ring (1) and washer
(2).
