Clinical application
a) Edentulous cases
1. Take separate impressions, as normal.
2. Slip the support wings (6) distally onto the retaining track (4). Try-in the Ivoclar Vivadent Centric Tray, and adjust by trimming as necessary.
3. To record the occlusal height, first make marks on the patient's nose and chin, using a suitable marker.
Then proceed by selecting one of the options below:
– Replace the patient's dentures and measure the present vertical dimension.
– Position the empty Centric Tray in the mouth. Ensure that the lips are moist and seated on the lip support (3) and that they gently support
the tray. Leave the tray in-situ for 1–2 minutes, then measure and record the vertical dimension. Remove tray from mouth.
4. Mix silicone impression material, alginate or similar material and load both sides of the tray.
5. Insert the loaded tray into the mouth sideways, rotating into position over the lower ridge. Place the moist lips on the lip support (3), whilst
slowly closing the mouth until the marked occlusal height is reached. Allow the silicone, alginate or other material used to set completely.
Check the vertical measure and remove the tray.
6. The UTS Transferbow conveys patient-related information to the articulator. Align the Transferbow to the correct coordinates and attach it to
the Ivoclar Vivadent Centric Tray at the UTS connection point (2). Fix the registration joint and remove the Transferbow.
7. The occlusal record, with the UTS Transferbow or the registration joint attached, is now handed to the technician, who will mount it in the
articulator based on the patient's coordinates.
b) Partially edentulous cases
1. Take separate impressions, as normal.
2. Check the closed occlusal position. If, due to the loss of contact between the opposing antagonists this is not possible, proceed as in
Edentulous Cases (3).
3. Slip the regular supports (5) distally onto the retaining track (4), placing them into the gaps. Try-in the Ivoclar Vivadent Centric Tray and
adjust by trimming as necessary.
4. Mix silicone impression material and load both sides of the tray.
7. The occlusal record, with the UTS Transferbow or registration joint attached, is now handed to the technician, who will set-up the teeth
according to the patient's coordinates.
