Donning
WARNING!
• If the respirator does not function properly as described in this section, the respirator must be removed from service
and must be checked and corrected for proper operation by an MSA trained or certified repairperson before using.
• Never remove the facepiece expect in a safe, non-hazardous, non-toxic atmosphere.
• Users must wear suitable protective clothing and precautions must be taken so that the device is not exposed to
atmospheres that may be harmful to it.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or death.
3.1
Preparing Respirator For Use
Conduct visual inspections upon receipt, daily, and after use. Inspect the entire respirator after it is cleaned and
disinfected. See

Before donning and using the respirator, the apparatus must be checked for any leaks. The respirator must be pressurized
to conduct the tests. Refer to

1. UPON RECEIPT, thoroughly check the respirator before use. Check the facepiece, regulator, hoses, and all fittings
for shipping damage. Replace any damaged components.
2. BEFORE EACH USE, as well as after cleaning/ disinfecting monthly, inspect the facepiece, regulator, and hoses for
wear. See

3.2
Donning the Apparatus
1. Remove the facepiece from the case.

Regulator Check
1. Grasp the mask mounted regulator and push shut-off IN. Check that no moisture or debris is present inside the
regulator, and that any O-rings and seal rings are present and free of debris and damage.
NOTE: If the regulator is equipped with a bypass, ensure the bypass knob is fully closed by turning clockwise.
NOTE: The Firehawk Second Stage MMR Regulator has 2 side release buttons. The G1 Second Stage MMR
Regulator has 2 release buttons on the top and bottom of the regulator.
2. Connect the air-supply hose to the inlet.
3. No air should flow from the regulator. If it does, repeat steps 1 and 2.
4. Disconnect air-supply. Slowly bleed off pressure.
