dance with the 75/439/EEC directive and with §§5a, 5b
AbfG). Appropriate protective clothing is to be worn for
cleaning and maintenance jobs. This is to be disposed
of in accordance with waste code TA 524 02 and EC
Directive 91/689/EEC. Only lubricants expressly recom-
mended by the manufacturer may be used. Oils and
lubricants should not be mixed.
• Only use genuine parts made by the manufacturer.
8.1 Lubricants

Filling quantities
The filling quantities depend on the number of poles:
• 2-pole: 900 ml
• 4-pole: 1,500 ml
8.1.2 Overview of greases
The following can be used as grease in accordance with
DIN 51818/NLGl class 3:
• Esso Unirex N3
• SKF GJN
• NSK EA5, EA6
• Tripol Molub-Alloy-Food Proof 823 FM*

8.2 Maintenance intervals

Overview of the maintenance intervals needed:
When used in waste water pump stations inside build-
ings or on properties, the maintenance intervals and
work shown in DIN EN 12056-4 must be adhered to!
Otherwise the following maintenance intervals apply:
8.2.1 Before initial start-up or after a longer period of stor-
age
• Check the insulation resistance
• Turn the impeller
• Oil level in the oil separation chamber
8.2.2 Monthly
• Monitor the current consumption and voltage
8.2.3 Every six months
• Visual inspection of the power supply cable
• Visual inspection of accessories
8.2.4 After two years
• Functional inspection of all safety and control devices
• Check the switching devices/relays in use
• Oil change
When moisture sensors are used, they indicate when
the oil is to be changed.

8.3 Maintenance tasks

8.3.1 Checking the insulation resistance
To check the insulation resistance, the power supply
cable must be disconnected. The resistance can then
be measured with an insulation tester (measuring volt-
age = 1,000 V). The following values may not be
exceeded:
• For the initial start-up: Minimum insulation resis-
tance 20 M:.
• For further measurements: Value must be greater
than 2 M:.
For motors with an integrated capacitor, the
windings must be short-circuited before check-
ing.
If the insulation resistance is too low, moisture
may have penetrated the cable and/or the motor.
Do not connect the machine, consult manufac-
turer.
8.3.2 Monitoring the current consumption and voltage
The current consumption and voltage is to be moni-
tored periodically during all 3 phases. This remains con-
stant during normal operation. Slight fluctuations are a
result of the composition of the pumped fluid. The
current consumption can assist in early detection and
correction of damage and/or faulty operation in the
impeller, bearings and/or the motor. More extensive
resulting damage can thus be largely prevented and the
risk of a total failure can be reduced.
8.3.3 Checking the switching devices/relays in use
Check that the switching devices/relays in use are
working properly. Defective devices must be replaced
immediately because they cannot guarantee safe
operation of the product. Details about the test proce-
dure can be found in the operating manual for the
switching device/relay.
8.3.4 Visual inspection of accessories
Check that accessories are fitted correctly and working
properly. Loose and/or defective accessories should be
repaired immediately or replaced.
8.3.5 Functional inspection of safety and monitoring devic-
es
Monitoring devices include temperature sensors in the
motor, sealed volume monitors, motor protection
relays, overvoltage relays, etc.
Motor protection relays, overvoltage relays and other
tripping devices can generally be triggered manually for
test purposes.
To inspect the sealing room monitor or the tempera-
ture sensor, the unit must be cooled to ambient tem-
perature and the electrical supply cable of the
monitoring device in the switch cabinet must be dis-
