Bite Pads do not stick properly to mouthpieces
Possible cause 1: bite pads may not stick properly if the mouthpieces
contain moisture.
Possible cause 2: The bite pads were not properly placed on the
mouthpieces.
What to do:
• Always make sure the mouthpieces are dry and free of build-up
before applying the bite pads.
• Heat will make the adhesive on the bite pads tackier. Warm the
mouthpieces under low heat with a hair dryer to evaporate moisture.
Allow the mouthpieces to cool down to room temperature.
• Review the User Manual regarding bite pad application. Apply
sufficient pressure to ensure good initial adhesion to the
mouthpieces.
Discoloration occurs on the Jaw Mobilizer's
surface and mouthpiece
Possible cause 1: Discoloration may occur due to the presence of
iron in tap water.
Possible cause 2: Discoloration may also occur when the jaw
mobilizer is exposed to direct sunlight, excessive moisture, or
extreme temperatures.
In most cases, discoloration is purely cosmetic, and will not decrease
the effectiveness of the device.
What to do:
• Do not soak the device in any liquid. Always dry the jaw mobilizer
well after use and cleaning.
• Clean the mouthpieces with a non-glycerin alcohol.
• Keep the jaw mobilizer away from direct sunlight, excessive
moisture, and/or extreme temperatures.
• When not in use, store the jaw mobilizer inside the Carrying Bag
in a cool dry place.
Read the User Manual carefully to enhance your understanding of
the appropriate use and care of the TheraBite system. Additional
User Assistance Information is set forth in Part V, below.
PART II: INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
CLINICIAN
Setting Maximum Opening of the Jaw Mobilizer [Fig.
14-15]
Maximum openings of approximately 25 to 45 millimeters can be
set by the position of the Range Setting Arm. [Fig. 14]
• Hold the device on its side and apply very gentle pressure to the
Lever – not enough to move the Lower Mouthpiece.
• Use a pointed object (such as a pen or pencil) to push out the pin
that connects the Range Setting Arm to the Lever. [Fig. 15a &
15b]
• Align the Range Setting Arm in the desired position and replace
the pin. (Range change is approximately 5 mm per interval.)
