5. Product description
5.1 Intended use
The EPS 205 is used for testing nozzle-and-holder as-
semblies and nozzle holders of unit injectors (referred
to in the following as DHK/UI), common rail injectors
with a solenoid valve for passenger and commercial
vehicles (referred to in the following as CRI/CRIN) and
piezo common rail injectors for passenger vehicles
(referred to in the following as CRI Piezo). With the
EPS 205 it is possible by way of an automatic test pro-
cedure to determine whether or not a tested compo-
nent is still fit for use.

If Opening pressure 2 measurements on DHK/UI
reveal measurement deviations, this does not justify
warranty claims if the Opening pressure 1 measure-
ments are OK. CRI/CRIN measurements on the
EPS 205 do not qualify for warranty entitlement.

The latest test procedures and set values for the
various Bosch injectors are contained on the "Tes-
tData CD". We recommend an update subscription
(subject to charge), available from your equipment
supplier or local subsidiary.

Additional special accessories are required for test-
ing other makes of CRI, Bosch CRIN and UI nozzle
holders. The preparatory work for testing UI nozzle
holders is described in the ESI[tronic] 2.0 test and
repair instructions (CD-K).

EPS 205 is not designed for continuous testing.

The user is solely responsible for the cor-
rectness and appropriateness of the actua-
tion data and test specifications input by
the user in the case of other makes of com-
ponent (components from manufacturers
other than Robert Bosch GmbH). It is also
the responsibility of the user to ensure the
proper testing of non-Bosch components.

Robert Bosch GmbH will not accept any
warranty or liability for damage, expendi-
ture and other consequences arising from
the incorrect and/or inappropriate input
of actuation data and test specifications
and/or the inexpert testing of non-Bosch
components by the user.

The default actuation parameters for
other makes of component (components
from manufacturers other than Robert
Bosch GmbH) are based on in-house
analyses, as Robert Bosch GmbH did not
have any information about these from the
manufacturer. Consequently they neither
correspond to the factory specifications
of, nor have they been coordinated with,
the manufacturer concerned. Robert
Bosch GmbH can therefore not accept any
warranty for the correctness of the de-
fault actuation parameters for non-Bosch
components.

It is the responsibility of the user to
ensure the proper testing of non-Bosch
components. Robert Bosch GmbH will
also not accept any liability for damage,
expenditure and other consequences aris-
ing from the incorrect default setting of
actuation parameters.
5.2 Important information on correct us-
age

Gasoline injections cannot be tested with the
EPS 205.
R
Non leak-off DHK or CRI with two solenoid valves
cannot be tested with the EPS 205. Non leak-off
DHK can be identified from the absence of a fuel
return connection.

The high-pressure hose is only to be used under
the guard when testing DHK/UI, CRI, CRIN and CRI
Piezo.
R
Hoses and adapter cables are not to be extended or
altered.
R
The guard contact is not to be jumpered.
R
Exclusive use is to be made of genuine spare parts.
