TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this component, check
the points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being
used.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your
dealer to carry out repair work.
No sound.
No sound from one speaker.
Cannot record tapes.
Cannot perform tape copying.
The remote control unit does
not work. (Other components
cannot be operated.)
Symptom
Cause
No power supplied to unit.
ePower plug is disconnected from inlet and
outlet.
e The amplifier's power plug has been plugged
into another component power outlet (e.g.
timer,
etc.)
but
power
to that
unit
is
disconnected.
e@ POWER switch is set to STANDBY.
eConnecting cords are disconnected from
terminals, or connected incorrectly.
Terminals, or connecting cords pin plugs are
dirty.
eThe input selector button is not set to the
desired input source.
@ Operation of other components is incorrect.
eBoth SPEAKERS
selector buttons are set to
OFF (Ml).
eConnecting
cords or speaker cords are
disconnected on that side.
e@BALANCE control has been adjusted to one
side.
eThe position of REC SELECTOR
switch is
incorrect.
e@ Connections are incorrect.
e Operation of cassette deck is incorrect.
eThe position of REC SELECTOR
switch is
incorrect.
e@ Operation of cassette decks is incorrect.
e Batteries are dead or no batteries in remote
control unit.
e@ The remote control sensor is not receiving any
signals.
e@ The remote control cord is not connected.
eA fluorescent light is shining on the remote
sensor window.
Abnormal functioning of this unit may be caused by static electric-
ity, or other external interference. To restore normal operation,
turn the power off and then on again, or unplug the AC power cord
and then plug it in again.

Remedy
elnsert plug securely into inlet and outlet.
e Turn on power to the other component.
e Press the POWER switch to ON so that the STANDBY
indicator goes off.
e Connect securely.
Clean terminals and plugs.
e Select the correct button (PHONO, TUNER, CD,
LINE, TAPE 1/DAT, TAPE 2 MONITOR).
e Consult the operating instructions for the other
components.
e Set one or both buttons to ON (a).
e Connect securely.
e Adjust BALANCE control to center position.
eSet

e Reconnect properly.
e Consult the operating instructions for the cassette
deck.
e Set switch correctly (see the section on "COPYING
TAPES").
e Consult the operating instructions for the cassette

7 meters and an angle of 30 degrees (refer to page
26).
e@ Connect correctly (see page 10).
e@Move so fluorescent light does not shine directly
on the amplifier's front panel remote sensor
window.
