2.2.1.
Intended use of the tool
The chain pruner is a tool used for cutting and pruning orchards, vineyards, citrus and olive trees and all trees
in general.
The product is for a professional use only
Use the tool only for the purposes described in par. "Product description". Any other use is prohibited and may
cause injuries.
Only use the tool from the ground in a safe and stable position, ensuring perfect and stable balance during use
and handling.
It is forbidden to use the tool when precariously balanced on surfaces where the risk of slipping is present (for
example on a hill and/or on damp grass, snow, ice, etc.) or any place where it is impossible to maintain a stable
balance (for example on steep slopes).
Avoid working in bad weather conditions, such as fog, heavy rain, strong winds, hailstorms, snow and ice,
thunderstorms (risk of electrocution).
2.2.2.
User requisites
It is strictly forbidden to use the tool in all situations of cognitive impairment such as when the operator is under
the influence of alcohol or taking drugs that reduce and/or alter alertness or reflexes. The same prohibition also
applies when carrying out maintenance or repair activities.
The tool may only be used by a trained, informed and instructed operator who is authorised to use it in accord-
ance with the legal provisions in force.
The user is liable for dangers and/or accidents that may occur as a result of (even partial) non-compliance with
the safety and behavioural rules towards third parties and/or things and/or animals.
Clothing and equipment
It is imperative to wear the PPE prescribed by the manufacturer and specifically it is
a mandatory requirement to wear protective equipment suitable for the operations
to be performed. Wear protective goggles and ensure that your clothes are fitted. It
is forbidden to wear neckties, necklaces, belts or long hair not tied as they can be
caught between the moving parts. Use safety shoes with non-slip soles and anti-
puncture and anti-vibration gloves.
Wear protective goggles or a visor to protect your face and noise-reducing earmuffs.
2.2.3.
Workplace safety
Only use the tool in good visibility conditions. A dimly lit work area may cause accidents. Do not perform cuts
in poor light conditions, like in the dark, at night, at dusk, at dawn or with dust or sand in the air impeding clear
visibility below 2 metres.
The areas in which the machine is used must have adequate lighting of 100 lux with a minimum uni-
formity of 0.7 over the work area and 50 lux, with uniformity of at least 0.3, in the immediate vicinity.
Do not use the tool in hazardous conditions for the operator, on slippery ground and on steep slopes.
Prior to use, inspect the work area and check that fallen cutting waste cannot create damage or have a signif-
icant effect on the safe use of the tool or create conditions of hindrance, tripping, etc.
Always ensure correct posture (legs slightly apart with one foot in front of the other for greater force of action,
upright torso and with both hands supporting the tool) respecting rest periods on use (one rest period per hour
of work is suggested), on changeover and position during work.
Remove work residues frequently so that they do not cause tripping hazards or obstruct work activities and/or
do not become sources of additional risk such as, for example, risk of fire in the case of dry material, which
can, in summer periods, generate spontaneous combustion phenomena.
Do not use the tool in an explosive, flammable environment.
Make sure not to get the power unit wet, immersed or in contact with water, snow, damp surfaces in general
(grass, plants, etc.) in order to avoid damaging it.
Keep children, frail persons, observers or animals at a safe distance and out of the operating range of the tool
(observing at least 5 metres beyond the maximum operating range of the tool) before operating the tool in order
to avoid damage, danger or injury.
