Setting Patient-Specific Alarm Limits
The Auto Update feature allows you to set alarm limits that are based on an individual patient's vital signs
measurements. After you take an initial measurement, you can select the Auto Update soft key to adjust the
alarm limits by a specified percentage of the patient's current vital signs measurements. These percentages
are defined in the Alarm Tolerance screen, as seen in the following illustration.

For example, if a patient's baseline Systolic measurement is 120 mmHg (15.9 kPa), and you want an alarm
to sound if the Systolic value increases by more than 20%, you can specify the 20% alarm tolerance in the
Alarm Tolerance screen. You then press the Auto Update soft key in the Alarms screen, and if the patient's
Systolic value exceeds the 20% tolerance (144 mmHg or 19.1 kPa), an alarm will sound.
When you begin measurements on the next patient, you can use the same percentages specified in the
Alarm Tolerance screen or you can modify them.
If you do not use the Auto Update feature, the monitor uses the alarm limit values in the Alarms screen.
To use the Auto Update feature:.

Changing Audible Alarm Settings
The audible alarm is a high-pitched tone that sounds at one-second intervals until a new measurement is
taken and the new measurement falls within the alarm limits.
If, for any reason, the monitor is unable to determine the final blood pressure values during a measurement
cycle, a caution code appears in the LCD and the unit beeps two times to announce a new measurement
cycle is about to begin.
