5.4.6
Injection chamber, clamping nut,
WARNING - Risk of burning!
The hot injector can cause severe burns to
the hands.
Put on protective gloves before removing
the injector from the injection chamber.
During the test, the CRI/CRIN or piezo CRI injects test
oil into the injection chamber (see Fig. 4). From the
injection chamber, the test oil flows back to the injec-
ted-fuel quantity test connection (Fig. 3, item 3) via
the hose assembly (Fig. 4, item 9). The strainer (Fig. 4,
item 3) collects the dirt discharged by the CRI/CRIN or
piezo CRI during the test.
!
The strainer (Fig. 3, item 3) has to be changed in
regular intervals (see maintenance intervals in sec-
tion 8.2.1). If the strainer is not changed in time,
it might break under increasing dynamic pressure.
Any dirt building up will no longer be stopped from
entering the system and damaging components in
the EPS 118.

Fitting the injector in the injection chamber
The injection nozzle of the CRI/CRIN or piezo CRI
(Fig. 5, item 1) must be inserted into the injection
chamber and secured with the clamping bolt.
i
For leak checking, the injection chamber must
be removed from the injection nozzle. After leak
checking (2nd test step) is complete, attach the
injection chamber to the injection nozzle again.

1. Unfasten the height adjusting clamping bolt
(Fig. 5, item 3).
2. Slide down the injection chamber (Fig. 5, item 5)
as far as it will go.
i
The O-ring in the injector nozzle seat (D7 or D9)
seals the injection chamber during testing. Depen-
ding on the diameter of the nozzle tip (7 mm or 9
mm) of the injector, the corresponding O-ring D7 or
D9 must be inserted in the injection nozzle seats.
Do not use a defective O-ring for the test.
