10. RELEASES AND THEIR
USE
10,1 Release on wheel gear for tyred vehicles
All wheel gear units, excluding some ratios, supplied by Brevi-
ni, except for size 255, are equipped with manual mechanical
releases so that the gear unit can be separated from the motor
if the vehicle must be towed or handled in some other manner.
Each line of wheel gear units is equipped with a type of
release.
10.2 RI-RF-RSF-RFL-RFD up to
size 159, CWD2050:
- Lift the wheel on the vehicle off the
ground.
- Loosen the 3 bolts "A" at 120° (as
shown in fig. 4).
- Turn the cover "B" counterclockwise
until the slots coincide with the head of
the 3 bolts, then remove it from its seat.
- Turn the cover 180° (as shown in fig. 5)
and replace cover and bolts.
10.3 RX20/10"/12"/15" with and
without brake:
- Lift the wheel on the vehicle off the
ground.
- Remove the circlip "A"(as shown in fig.
6), and pull off the disconnect plug "B"
- Turn the disconnect plug 18.0°(as shown
in fig. 7), re-insert it into its seat and re-
place the circlip.
10.4 CWD1012 with and without
brake:
- Lift the wheel on the vehicle off the
ground.
- Use a 6 mm Allen wrench and fully
tighten the dowel "A" (as shown in fig. 8).
10.5 Replacing the releases:
To replace the releases on the gear units, just reverse the
operations described above.
During the coupling phase, start the hydraulik motor and turn
it slowly so that the toothing on the motor shaft correctlyenga-
ges with the sun gear: therefore, carry out this operation very
carefully, reversing the motor rotation direction, if necessary,
to make the operation easler.
