Replacing the mowing line
Always check the mowing head for wear before
replacing the mowing line.
WARNING
If signs of heavy wear are visible, the mowing
head must be completely replaced.
The mowing line is referred to as 'line' in the fol‐
lowing.
An illustrated guide to replacing lines is supplied
with the mowing head. So keep the instructions
for the mowing head in a safe place!
► Remove the mowing head if necessary

Feeding out mowing line
STIHL TrimCut
WARNING
Always switch off the engine to feed out line by
hand – otherwise there is a risk of injury!
► Pull up the spool housing – turn counterclock‐
wise – approx. 1/6 turn – until it engages – and
then allow it to spring back
► Pull the ends of the line outward
Repeat this procedure if necessary until both
ends of line reach the blade at the deflector.
A rotary movement from one click to the next
releases approx. 4 cm (1 1/2 in.) of line.

Replacing mowing line
STIHL PolyCut
A length of line can be fitted to the PolyCut mow‐
ing head instead of the cutting blade.
WARNING
Always switch off the engine to load the mowing
head by hand – otherwise there is a risk of injury!
► Follow the instructions supplied to fit cut
lengths of line in the mowing head.

Always check the mowing head for signs of wear
before installing new cutting blades.

WARNING
If there are signs of serious wear, replace the
complete mowing head.
The thermoplastic cutting blades are referred to
as "blades" in the following.
The mowing head is supplied with illustrated
instructions for replacing the blades. Keep the
instructions for the mowing head in a safe place.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury, always shut off the
engine before installing the blades.
► Remove the mowing head.
► Replace blades as shown in the illustrated
instructions.
► Mount the mowing head on the machine.

24.1
Changing the Fuel Pickup Body
Change the fuel pickup body every year:
► Drain the fuel tank.
► Use a hook to pull the fuel pickup body out of
the tank and take it off the hose.
► Push the new pickup body into the hose.
► Place the pickup body in the tank.
