TROUBLESHOOTING
IMPORTANT! If you cannot eliminate the issue with the help of this table, please contact the service department or return the device for repair. There are no user serviceable parts inside of the Controller!
Opening the unit may cause electrical shock to user and voids warranty!
Problem
The Controller does not power on
Unsuccessful Self-Test
Temperature is out of operating range
Controller Malfunction during use
Inflow turns off
No activation from footswitch
Footswitch error on connection
Handpiece error on connection
No scope/cannula connected during purge
Purge stops before complete
Cannot ACTIVATE or COAG
Insufficient Suction
Handpiece does not power on

Possible Causes
- Power cable not connected
- No line voltage
- Fuses defective
- Controller defective
- Various internal self-diagnostics
- Temperature is out of Controller's operating range
- Controller defective
- High pressure detected on the inflow line
- Foreign object between diaphragm and pressure
sensors
- Controller malfunction
- Footswitch not plugged in
- Two buttons activated simultaneously
- Footswitch defective
- Footswitch button or pedal stuck down on
connection
- Handpiece defective
- Handpiece button or pedal stuck down on
connection
- No scope/sheath is connected to the inflow tube
- Inflow tube is obstructed during purge
- Scope/sheath is inserted into joint during purge
- Handpiece does not Activate or COAG
- Suction Tubing not connected correctly
- Suction tubing kinked or occluded
- Tricera Device defective
- Handpiece is defective
- Controller is defective
Remedy
Ensure power cable is connected to Controller
and wall.
Ensure power is being supplied to the
Controller
Replace Fuses
Send in for repair
Power off, then power back on the Controller.
If the problem persists, contact customer
service
Power off, then allow Controller to return to
room temperature before powering on
Ensure Controller vent holes are not occluded
Power off, then power back on the Controller.
If the problem persists, contact customer
service
Remove any obstructions from inflow line or
open stopcock or use a less restrictive
scope/sheath
Remove FMA and clear any foreign objects
between the diaphragm and pressure sensors
before reinstalling.
Press OK and turn Inflow back on. If the
problem persists, contact customer service
Plug in footswitch
Release buttons and reactivate intended
function
Replace footswitch
Release depressed button or pedal
Replace handpiece
Release depressed button or pedal
Connect a scope/sheath to the inflow tube
Check inflow tube and scope/sheath
connections
Remove scope/sheath from patient
Ensure that normal saline [sodium chloride
(0.9% w/v; 150mmol/l)] is being used as
irrigation solution
Ensure that the footswitch is plugged into the
gray port on the Controller
Ensure the Handpiece is securely plugged
into the connector
Replace Tricera Device
Check that Suction Tubing is properly inserted
in pump, check that connections are secure,
replace if necessary
Check Suction tubing for occlusion
Replace Shaver blade
Ensure the Handpiece is securely plugged
into the connector
Replace Controller
Replace Handpiece
Send Controller and Handpiece in for repair
