7 Operation
7.4 Setting automatic/manual mode
In automatic mode, all necessary welding parameters are automatically set and maintained by the control
system. In manual mode, the wire feed speed and welding power can be set individually.
Press the <Material> button for more than 1 second to switch between automatic and manual mode. The
1
appropriate LED lights up.
In manual mode, turn the left-hand knob to set the desired wire feed speed.
2
► In manual mode, turn the right-hand knob to set the desired welding power.
7.5 Setting the material (automatic mode only)
Press the <Material> button.
1
The material type (e.g. <Steel>) appears on the left-hand display. The shielding gas type (e.g. <CO2>)
appears on the middle display. The wire diameter (e.g. <1.0 mm>) appears on the right-hand display.
Turn the left-hand knob to select the desired material.
2
The last selection shown on the left-hand display is adopted.
7.6 Setting the welding parameters
Repeatedly press the <Welding parameter> button to select the welding parameter.
1
Turn the knob to set the values for the welding parameter.
7.7 Setting the welding power
► Turn the right-hand knob to set the welding power. In automatic mode, this also modifies the wire feed
speed, welding voltage, throttle, and welding current.
7.8 Setting the material thickness
Repeatedly press the <Welding parameter> button until the <mm> LED lights up.
1
Turn the right-hand knob to set the material thickness.
2
7.9 Setting the welding functions
7.9.1 Welding function control box
Throttle function
In the operating mode <MIG>, the throttle function can be adjusted while welding.
Briefly press the <Fx> button to access the throttle function. <Choc> appears on the left-hand display. The
1
current value appears on the middle display.
Turn the right-hand knob to set the value to between −15 (hard) and +15 (soft).
2
Arc length correction
For certain welding tasks, the arc length can be modified in automatic mode when using the <MIG>
operating mode.
Briefly press the <Fx> button again to access the arc length correction on the left-hand display. The
1
relevant new welding voltage appears on the middle display. During this process, the wire feed speed
remains constant at all times and is not changed. While welding, the icons <+> or <−> in the middle
display indicate whether a higher or lower welding voltage is currently set. No icon is visible at the
normal work point.
Turn the left-hand knob to decrease or increase the arc length by up to 3 V compared to the current
2
work point.
