7 Operation
7.17 Starting the welding process
NOTICE
Damage to the workpiece due to incorrectly selected welding settings
If unsuitable welding settings for the workpiece are selected on the control panel and the control box, the
workpiece can be damaged.
► Before starting the welding process, weld a test seam and adjust the welding settings if necessary.
NOTICE
Material damage due to disconnecting the mains plug during the welding process
If the mains plug is disconnected during the welding process, the device can be irreparably damaged.
► Ensure a constant power supply and do not disconnect the mains plug during the welding process.
7.17.1 Starting MIG/MAG welding
Set the welding mode on the control box to <MIG/MAG>.
1
Set all the required welding parameters on the control box depending on the workpiece, the welding
2
wire used, and the shielding gas.
Open the shielding gas cylinder.
3
Press the torch trigger to start the welding process.
4
7.17.2 Starting the electrode welding process
Set the welding mode on the control box to <Electrode>.
1
Set all the required welding parameters on the control box depending on the workpiece and
2
electrode used.
Start the welding process by placing the electrode on the workpiece.
3
Setting the welding parameters <Hot start> and <Arc force>
To achieve a better start to the welding process, the welding parameter <Hot start> can be used to set
a higher starting current. This can be set to between 0% (no increase) and 150% of the welding current.
The hot start duration is 1 second.
The welding parameter <Arc force> can minimize electrode sticking during the welding process. If the
electrode threatens to stick to the weld pool, it is burned free with short current surges. The arc force can
be set to between 100% and 250% of the welding current. A value of >200% is recommended for cell
electrodes.

7.17.3 Starting the TIG welding process
Set the welding mode on the control box to <TIG>.
1
Set all the required welding parameters on the control box depending on the workpiece and the
2
shielding gas.
Open the shielding gas cylinder.
3
Open the gas valve on the TIG torch.
4
Touch the workpiece with the tungsten electrode and lift the TIG torch to ignite the arc.
