1. DESCRIZIONE DEI COMPONENTI
5. INSTALLATION
For correct operation and protection of the heat pump, it must be
guaranteed that:
• The minimum water content of the system, circulating in the heat
pump, is higher than 50 liters, in any operating condition.
• The minimum water flow rate through the heat pump is always
guaranteed under all operating conditions. In particular during the
defrost phase and the activation of the anti-freeze protection.
• A suitably sized expansion vessel is installed to avoid exceeding
the 2.5 bar limit pressure in any operating condition.
Anti-freeze protection
The heat pump is equipped with an anti-freeze protection function which
prevents the water from freezing by activating the internal circulator when
the external temperature drops below 4 ° C. Furthermore, if the tempera-
ture of the water leaving the heat pump drops below 2 ° C, the unit itself
will also start in heating mode.
The evidence that this protection is active is obtained with Dip-Switch 1 =
ON as in Fig. below (factory setting).

If Dip-Switch 1 = OFF, it is essential to check the frost protection interven-
tion thresholds of the SMART-MT as described in Chapter 8.12.
This function is effective as long as there is power supply to the heat pump
and water circulation is guaranteed inside the hydraulic circuit.
If the above conditions are not guaranteed, it is necessary to provide an
additional antifreeze protection, adding the system loading water with
an adequate quantity of glycol, in compliance with the following table:

ratures listed for the specific product.

• The electricity supply is not removed during the winter period
when there is the risk of ice formation.
• In addition to the anti-freeze protection present in the machine,
it is mandatory to provide an adequate additional anti-freeze
protection, which intervenes in the event of a power failure or in
the event of a fault, and which is kept efficient with appropriate
checks during mandatory maintenance.
• Do not use the heat pump to treat industrial process water, swim-
ming pool water or sanitary water. In all these cases, prepare an
intermediate heat exchanger.
Water loaded into the system
Do not use corrosive water, containing deposits, chlorine debris or
demineralized water.
To avoid corrosion phenomena of the heat pump exchanger, the precharge
water of the system must comply with the limits indicated in the
following table.
If you are not reasonably certain about the quality of the water or if you
have doubts about the presence of different materials that could cause a
progressive corrosion of the exchanger over time, it is always a good rule
to insert an inspectable intermediate exchanger and made of material
suitable for resisting such components. In the case of new installation or
emptying of the circuit, it is necessary to carry out a preventive cleaning
of the system.
In order to guarantee the correct operation of the product, after each
cleaning operation, water replacement or glycol addition, check that the
precharge water complies with the following table.
