7.4

Preventive Maintenance

The following procedures may be performed by a biomedical engineer or biomedical technician .

7.4.1 Replacing Fuse

The fuse door is located on the back panel below the power cord receptacle . Use a flat head
screw driver to open the door . Replace the fuse with 5A Time Delay Fuse rated for 250VAC .
WARNING! Electrical shock hazard. Do not open pump housing.

7.4.2 Physical Inspection

Check all equipment to assess its functionality and technical safety . These inspections may be
performed on a less frequent basis depending on the duration and frequency of use . To inspect:
1 . Disconnect the console from the power supply .
2 . Inspect all exterior components, surfaces, and corners for damage . If the unit was dropped,
contact your DePuy Synthes Sales Representative or call DePuy Synthes Customer Service
in the USA at +1-800-382-4682 to arrange for a replacement . Outside the United States,
contact your local affiliate .
3 . Inspect the foot pedal and handpiece for obvious signs of mechanical damage or wear .
4 . Inspect the power cable, verify that the cable is intact .
5 . Look for cuts on the cables and missing or bent pins on the connectors .
6 . Remove the fuse holder (located below the power cord receptacle) and verify that both
fuses are intact and match the current, time delay and voltage ratings per the back panel
label .
• Ensure that the transparent safety door and hinges are working properly .
Weekly
inspection
• Inspect power cord and all cables for wear or cuts .
• Check all connections .
• Ensure that the foot pedal cable and handpiece interface cable connector
pins are not missing or bent .
• Plug the power cord to the power connection .
• Switch the I/O switch to ON ("I") .
• Press the RUN/STOP pad .
• Press on all pads, and listen for an audible tone for each pad pressed .
When the pump is primed, the screen displays the actual pressure .
Annual
Check all equipment annually to assess its functionality and technical safety .
