Service Procedures
9.1

Functional Test

This section provides functional tests that comply with the IEC 60601-1 directive . The following
tests are provided:
• Functional test of active elements

• Functional test of pinch valve

This test is intended for use by readers who are familiar with the material in this Manual or
biomedical engineers/technicians . All other tests for determining basic output, safety, product
conformity, acceptance testing, commissioning acceptance testing, must be performed by
personnel trained and authorized by DePuy Synthes . There are no user servicable parts inside
the pump .
WARNING! Do not modify this equipment without authorization of the
manufacturer.
WARNING! Electrical shock hazard. Do not open pump housing.
Materials required for test: Service Test Tubing Ref . 284511

9.1.1 Verify Motors and Electro-valve

1 . Turn the pump ON by pressing "|" on the power switch on the front of the pump .
2 . Install the QC test tubing Ref . 284511 as described in Chapter 5 .
3 . Press RUN/STOP to activate the pump and verify that the following components operate
correctly:
• Irrigation Motor: With the left door down and the right door raised, verify that the motor
rotates .
• Suction Motor: With the right door down and the left door raised, verify that the motor
rotates .
• Electrovalve: With both doors raised press and hold the FILL Chamber pad . The
electrovalve should engage for 5 seconds .
9.1.2 Functional Test of Pinch Valve
Rotate the pinch valve vertically and verify that both sides are open .
