Safety
* Before operating the unit, be sure that the operating voltage of
your unit is identical with that of your local power supply.
* When you unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, pull
on the plug itself. Do not pull on the cord.
If any object or liquid falls into the unit, unplug it immediately.
Before trying to operate it further, contact your Sony-authorized
service personnel for servicing.
If you don't plan on using the unit for an extended period, unplug
it from the electrical outlet.
AC power cord must be changed only at a qualified service shop.
The nameplate indicating operating voltage, power consumption,
etc. is located on the rear cover.
Installation
¢ Place the unit on a level surface.
¢ Leave space around the unit to allow for proper ventilation.
¢ Do not install the unit in the following locations:
— Ona soft surface (such as a carpet) which could block the vents
on the bottom.
— Near a heat source (such as a heater or stove).
— Inanarea subject to direct sunlight, mechanical vibrations or
shocks, rain, moisture, dirt, or dust.
* Save the box and packing material. You can use them again when
storing or moving the unit.
Maintenance
Clean the cabinet, panels, and controls with a soft cloth lightly
moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use abrasive pads,
scouring powder, or solvents such as alcohol or benzine.
If you have any questions or problems concerning the unit, please
contact your nearest Sony dealer.
NOTICE FOR THE CUSTOMERS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
A moulded plug complying with BS 1363 is fitted to this equipment
for your safety and convenience.
Should the fuse in the plug supplied need to be replaced,
a5 AMP
fuse approved by ASTA or BSI to BS 1362, (i.e. marked with © or
& mark) must be used.
If the plug supplied with this equipment has a detachable fuse
cover, be sure to attach the fuse cover after you change the fuse.
Never use the plug without the fuse cover. If you should lose the
fuse cover, please contact your nearest Sony service station.
IMPORTANT
If the plug supplied is not suitable for the socket outlets in your
home, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted in
accordance with the following instructions.
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the
following code:
Blue:
Neutral
Brown:
Live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this apparatus may
not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the
terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal
whichis marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire which
is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is
marked with the letter L or coloured red. Do not connect either wire
to the earth terminal in the plug which is marked by the letter E or
by thesafety earth symbol + or coloured green or green-and-
yellow.
WARNING
To prevent shock hazard, do not insert the plug cut off from the
mains lead into a socket outlet. This plug cannot be used and
should be destroyed.

Precautions

* Avant de mettre l'appareil en service, vérifier que sa tension de

¢ Pour déconnecter le cordon de la prise secteur, tirer sur la fiche.
Ne pas tirer sur le cordon proprement dit.
Si un solide ou un liquide tombe dans le coffret, débrancher
Yappareil et le faire vérifier par un technicien Sony autorisé avant
de le remettre en service.
Débrancher l'appareil de la prise secteur s'il ne doit pas étre utilisé
pendant longtemps.
¢ Le cordon d'alimentation ne peut étre changé que dans un centre
de service autorisé.
La plaque indicatrice de la tension de fonctionnement et de la
consommation électrique est située a l'arriére de l'appareil.
Installation
* Installer l'appareil sur une surface horizontale.
¢ Laisser de l'espace autour de l'appareil pour assurer une
ventilation correcte.
¢ Ne pas installer l'appareil dans les endroits suivants:
— Sur une surface molle (comme une moquette) qui pourrait
bloquer les fentes d'aération sous l'appareil,
— Prés d'une source de chaleur (comme un radiateur ou une
cuisiniére),
— Dans un endroit exposé au soleil, 4 des vibrations ou des chocs
mécaniques, a la pluie, a l'humidité, a la saleté ou ala
poussiére.
¢ Conserver la boite et les matériaux d'emballage.Ils vous seront
utiles pour ranger ou transporter l'appareil.
Entretien
Nettoyer le coffret, les panneaux et les commandes 4 l'aide d'un
chiffon doux légérement imprégné d'une solution savonneuse
douce. Ne pas utiliser de tampon abrasif, de poudre 4 récurer ou de
solvant, comme de I'alcool ou de I'essence.
