Dubbing with the DUPLI SYNC
Function
1, For deck-to-deck copying, connect the
output of the X-1000M/X-1000 to the
input of the copying tape deck* (If
your amplifier has copying facilities, con-
nect through amplifier.) Connect the
optional WR-100
DUPLI
SYNC cord
from the X-1000M/X-1000 DUPLI SYNC
socket to the RC-90/RC-70 remote con-
trol socket of the copying tape deck.
2. Make all normal recording preparations
on the deck leaving it in the record-
pause mode. Go on to preparing the
X-1000M/X-1000 for normal playback,
leaving it without setting the tapes in
motion.
3. Press the X-1000M/X-1000
DUPLI SYNC
switch on (LED lights), and after which
Press
® to begin
recording. When
you
stop copying by pressing the X-1000M/
X-1000 PAUSE or STOP button, the
deck enters the record-pause mode after
entering a muting mode, the length of
which depends on the X-1000M/X-1000
AUTO SPACER control setting.
Pressing the X-1000M/X-1000

clears the record muting mode allowing
the deck to begin recording again.

Magnefloat Bearings
The bearings used on the two capstans play
a vital role in maintaining, or degrading,
the wow
and flutter performance of the
deck. Vertical play is the problem and must
be eliminated but the methods usually taken
to overcome it — springs and other mecha-
nical
devices
—
often
only
make
the
problem worse.
The Magnefloat method uses the principle
that the same magnetic poles oppose each
other keep the bearings firmly in place and
eliminate vertical play with absolutely no
mechanical contact. The result — wow and
flutter are at an unprecedented low.
Electrical Braking
One of the advantages of large reel decks
is that you can get longer play and record
times. One of the disadvantages, up till now,
has been that those large, heavy reels are
also big on enertia and when it comes to
stopping them, pretty hefty mechanical
brakes were required. And the problem with

gistrement habituel. Mettre la X-1000M/
X-1000 en mode de reproduction sans
pourtant déclencher
le défilement de
bande.
3. Presser sur la touche DUPLI SYNC de la
X-1000M/X-1000

s'allume —, puis, en enfoncant la touche
de reproduction
» , commencer I'enre-
gistrement.
Quand on arréte le copiage en pressant
sur PAUSE ou STOP de ta X-1000M/
X-1000, la platine "receveuse" entre en
mode de pause a |'enregistrement aprés
avoir passé par mode de muting, dontla
durée dépend du réglage AUTO SPACER
de la X-1000M/X-1000.
Annuler le mode de muting en pressant
la touche
» de la X-1000M/X-1000
pour que la platine ''receveuse" reprenne
l'enregistrement.
Roulements flottant sur aimants
Les roulements utilisés sur les deux cabestans
jouent un réle vital dans le soutien, ou la
dégradation, du taux
de pleurage et scintil-
lement de la platine. Le jeu vertical est le
grand probléme et celui-ci doit étre éliminé,
Mais souvent, les méthodes normalement
prises pour le surmonter — ressorts et autres
dispositifs mécaniques — ne font que le
rendre plus difficile encore.
La
méthode
de
flottement
sur
aimants
utilise le principe des péles d'un aimant qui
s'opposent a garder les roulements ferme-
ment en place et qui éliminent donc tout jeu
vertical sans aucun contact mécanique. Ré-
sultat — le taux de pleurage et scintillement
est incroyablement faible.
Freinage électrique
Un des avantages des magnétophones a bo-
bines de large diamétre est que vous pouvez
obtenir
des durées d'enregistrement et de
reproduction plus longues. Un de ces dé-
savantages, jusqu'a maintenant, a toujours
été que ces larges et lourdes bobines pos-
sédent une trés grande inertie et lorsqu'il
faut les arréter, de robustes freins mécani-
