4.1.1- Cardan shaft length
Depending on the tractor used, it may be necessary to adjust the length
of the cardan shaft. Check, and if necessary, cut the shaft, proceeding as described
below (see the instructions for the cut in the cardan shaft's manual).
Start the hydraulics and position the machine's shaft at the same height as the

tractor power take-off (see figure below).
Separate the two cardan shaft parts (male and female).

Couple the solid shaft (male side) onto the harvester and the tubular one (female

side) onto the tractor.
Place the cardan shaft parts (male and female) parallel to each other. In this position,

there must be a maximum clearance of 30 mm (see picture above).
If there is no gap indicated, it is necessary to cut the cardan shaft, proceeding as follows:

Mark the location where the cuts will be made, leaving the clearance indicated on

the next page.
Uncouple the cardan from the machine and the tractor and make the cuts.

To measure the length of the
cardan shaft, leave the machine
shaft at the same height as the
power take-off of the tractor.
