S8 TIGER X-ray Spectrometer
Danger: X-ray Radiation!
During maintenance or repair, it may be necessary to bypass portions of the safety
system. In these situations, the instrument must be physically disconnected from
the network. UNPLUG THE ETHERNET NETWORK CABLE CONNECTING THE S8
TIGER TO THE NETWORK! This prevents unintentional remote control of the instru-
ment via the network! In such cases, the S8 TIGER's network interface must be con-
nected directly to a computer located near the instrument. This computer must also remain
disconnected from any LAN networks during the entire duration of maintenance and repair
work!
Warning: High Voltage!
When the equipment is connected to the mains supply, high voltage may be present at
some terminals of the mains distribution unit. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to switch
off the external mains supply before opening the S8 TIGER's side panels. It is not sufficient
to press the 'Power OFF' button on the front of the S8 TIGER. The mains supply must be
switched off at a wall socket or external switch external to the S8 TIGER.

Precautions While Cleaning the Spectrometer

When cleaning the side panels and the interior of the sample magazine, use dry cleaning utensils
only. Do not use water or aggressive cleaning agents. The transparent sample magazine cover can be
cleaned with any standard household-type window cleaner.
Caution!
Before cleaning, it is necessary to turn off all power to the S8 TIGER.
