6.16 Smart Media Card

Data are backed up on a Smart Media Card (see Figures 23
and 24). This card is a dedicated storage medium, available at
capacities of up to 128 MB. The cards come in two types:
• Cards for an operating voltage of +5 V, characterized by its left
upper corner being cut off.
• Cards for an operating voltage of +3.3 V, characterized by
its right upper corner being cut off (see Figure 23). In addition,
this card type is usually labelled with the letters "ID".
Either card at any capacity can be used for the Multimat 2 unit.
Both types of cards feature a write-protection field. If this field is
covered by an adhesive conductive metal foil, the Smart Media
Card will be write-protected (see Figure 24).

Insert the Smart Media Card into the card reader with the medal
surface facing back (outward, toward you) (see Figure 25).
To remove the card, press the eject button (see Figure 26).
Using the Smart Media Card function, all or individual functions
of the Multimat2 Touch can be saved to the Smart Media Card
and restored from the Smart Media Card to the Multimat2 Touch.
The Smart Media Card, a dynamic storage medium, can be used
to save several hundred individual programs. This is particularly
useful for additional program backup.

1. Insert the Smart Media Card into the slot on the right rear
side of the furnace (metal surface facing back).
2. Press the sensor button "M" on the numeric keypad.
3. Select "Smart Card".
4. Select "Format Smart Card".
5. Confirm with "S" = yes (abort with "C" = no).
6. Formatting will take about 5 to 10 seconds.
7. Complete successful formatting by pressing the "C" button.
8. Now the individual programs can be stored on the card.
Prior to first use,
the Smart Media
Card must be
formatted.
In doing so, all data
on the Smart Media
Card will be deleted.
