6 Use
CAUTION
Overheating of the hydraulics due to excessive strain
Burns, injuries caused by falling due to changes in functionality and damage to prosthetic com
ponents
Do not touch overheated prosthetic components.
Reduce all activities if there are changes in functionality, in order to allow the overheated
prosthetic components to cool down.
If overheating or changes in functionality occur, have the prosthesis checked by authorised
qualified personnel.
NOTICE
Mechanical overload
Impaired functionality due to mechanical damage
Check the product for damage prior to each use.
Do not use the product if its functionality has been impaired.
Take any necessary measures (e.g. repair, replacement, inspection by the manufacturer's
customer service, etc.).

6.1 Using the vacuum pump

The vacuum pump is operated mechanically while walking with the prosthetic knee joint. A vacu
um is created in the prosthetic socket during flexion while the medium being conveyed is
exhausted through the discharge valve during extension. An elevated vacuum is reached in the
sealed socket environment after several pump cycles. A vacuum can be generated even before
walking by flexing and extending the prosthetic knee joint while standing.

6.2 Flushing the vacuum pump

CAUTION
Improper cleaning
Skin irritation, formation of eczema or infections due to contamination with germs
Clean the product regularly.
A reduced vacuum indicates contamination. In case of contamination, the system has to be
flushed to clean it. This flushes the vacuum pump and valves. The flushing process can also help
if the system is plugged.
Required materials:
>
Vessel with 30 ml to 60 ml distilled water, one collecting vessel
Preparations required:
The prosthesis is not worn for this process
1) Pour the distilled water into the prosthetic socket.
2) Position the vessel under the outlet hose.
3) Flex and extend the prosthetic knee joint to pump the water through the system.
Conclusion
