Safety Instructions

The compressed air line breathing apparatus of the series DSL and MASS negative and positive pressure
described in this operating manual are tested and approved to EN 14593-1 standard.
The MSA trolley system models listed are certified in accordance with EU directive 89/686/EEC, CE certificate
issued by ITALCERT S.r.l. Notified Body 0426. All other components are certified in accordance with EU directive
89/686/EEC, CE certificates issued by DEKRA EXAM GmbH Notified Body 0158
This breathing apparatus meets the temperature and flammability requirements defined in EN 14593-1 and is
marked with the letter "F". This means that the compressed air line breathing apparatus can be used in situations
where there may be a risk of combustion.
Important!
The breathable air must conform to EN 12021. Excessive levels of humidity in the breathing air at
temperatures below 4°C can cause the apparatus to malfunction (due to freezing)! Use a water
separator if necessary.
The use of oxygen or oxygen-enriched air is not allowed.
These devices are not tested for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Important!
The compressed air line breathing apparatus is a pure gas protection device. It is not suitable for
underwater diving and hoses are for use in gas or air environment; they are also not suitable for the
underwater use.
The apparatus described in this operating manual comply with Directive 89/686 EC.
Compressed air line breathing apparatus of the series DSL and MASS negative and positive pressure are
personal protective equipment (PPE) on which human life and health may depend!
This manual must be carefully read, thoroughly understood and followed by all persons responsible for
deciding when to use the apparatus, or maintaining and servicing it, or checking it for serviceability.
In addition to the instructions concerning the intended use of the apparatus, these instructions also contain
important information about risk prevention.
Before using the apparatus, the user must decide whether it is suitable for the intended use.

MSA will not be liable if this compressed air line breathing apparatus is used improperly or for purposes other
than those for which it is intended. The selection and use of the apparatus are the sole responsibility of the
persons concerned.
Any liability or claims under the warranties provided by MSA for this apparatus will not be accepted if it is not
used, serviced or maintained in accordance with the instructions in this manual.
The above statements meet with, and do not otherwise affect, the terms of liability and warranty in the general
terms and conditions of sale of MSA.
Maintenance Information
This compressed air line breathing apparatus should be regularly inspected and maintained by trained
specialists. An inspection and maintenance log must be maintained. When performing maintenance or repairs,
always use original MSA replacement parts. Repair and maintenance work may only be performed in
authorised workshops or by MSA. The authorised workshops are responsible for acquiring valid technical
information about the apparatus, its components, and maintenance guidelines. Modification to the apparatus
or its components are not permitted and infringe the certifications.
If the DSL or MASS regulators lose their settings or are opened all use of the whole system should be
suspended until properly maintained.
MSA will be liable only for the maintenance and repairs carried out by MSA themselves
