PREPARING THE FREEZER BOWL
Proper freezing of the freezer bowl is the most important step when preparing a
frozen dessert using your new ice cream maker. The freezer bowl must be placed
upright in the back of your freezer. This should be the coldest part of your freezer
and reduce the amount of warm air allowed to come in contact with the bowl should
the freezer door be opened during the freezing process.
The time required to thoroughly freeze the bowl is going to depend on the temper
ature of your freezer. The average time to thoroughly freeze the bowl is 15 hours.
This is if your freezer is approximately -13°F/-25°C. Since there is liquid between
the walls of the freezer bowl, shake it to see if you hear any moving liquid. If so,
return the freezer bowl to the freezer until frozen solid. After using the freezer bowl,
it is necessary to freeze the freezer bowl for several hours even though you may
not hear the liquid moving. This will ensure optimum freezing performance.
Additional freezer bowls may be purchased through Toastmaster Inc. See back
cover for phone number and address.
NOTE: Storing your freezer bowl in the freezer allows you the flexibility to make
your frozen dessert with little notice—only the time it takes to prepare the mixture
and allow it to chill thoroughly. Chilling the mixture is highly recommended for the
best results when making a dessert. A cold mixture will freeze quicker than one at
room temperature.
USING YOUR ICE CREAM MAKER
1. Freeze your freezer bowl until solid.
2. Prepare the desired recipe in a deep bowl and allow to chill when instructed
in the recipe.
NOTE: Cold ingredients will freeze quicker than room temperature ingredients.
3. Using oven mitts to protect your hands from the cold, remove the freezer bowl
from your freezer and immediately place on the ice cream maker motor base.
4. Place the paddle in the freezer bowl as shown on page 3 (collar side up).
5. Place the cover on the motor base aligning the notches and grooves. Make
sure the cover is securely in place.
6. Plug into 120V-60 Hz outlet.
7. Select the desired consistency by turning the switch to HARD or SOFT.
8. WHILE THE FREEZER BOWL IS TURNING pour the dessert mixture
through the cover opening into the rotating freezer bowl. Do not leave ice
cream maker unattended while in use. If using a recipe other than those
included in this book, only pour enough mixture to fill the freezer bowl approx
imately 3/4 (4 cups) of the way full, as the mixture may increase in volume
during the freezing process.
9. Additional ingredients such as candies, nuts and alcohol may be added
towards the end of the freezing process. DO NOT turn the unit off, simply add
through the cover opening during the freezing process.
NOTE: Once the switch has been turned on and the mixture has been poured
into the freezer bowl, do not change the setting or remove the cover during
the freezing process.
