ment is checked and inspected by a qualified technician.

connection. In fact, special cables are needed (marked USB
uct identification").
To assure trouble-free operation, a single USB
ZEN-X / ZEN-Xi system needs to be installed with longer cables a USB
be used for each 4.5m section (maximum) and for at most three sections (two repeaters).
The sensor used to capture images is fragile and bothered by static electricity. Handle it with
care. Do not deform or squeeze it.
Do not touch the electric contacts when the connector is not plugged into the electronic control
module.
Do not disconnect it while the interface is on; see paragraph "Using the sensor".
2.2 Safety and Health Care
- The ZEN-X / ZEN-Xi digital system is a medical device for intraoral x-ray acquisition. It is intended for use only by
qualified dental professionals. Do not use the system for any purposes other than capturing intraoral radiographs.
The device can be used only by clinicians well instructed in the fields of dentistry and radiology.
- Never use electronic apparatuses in the vicinity of life support (e.g: pacemaker or cardiacstimulators) and hearing
aids. In medical facilities, before using any electronic devices, always assure they are compatible with the equip-
ment present.
- The disposable protection control sheaths provided are mandatory to safeguard the patients against
cross-contamination. The disposable protection control sheaths are class IIa medical devices. They can-
not be replaced with others that are poorer quality. Contact the dealer who supplied the sensor to obtain
additional disposable protection control sheaths.
- Cover all the components which personnel may touch with disposable protection as they may be contaminated by
indirect contact with the patient's mouth. In particular, be careful when handling the Personal Computer mouse,
keyboard or touch screen.
- Never use in the presence of mixtures of flammable anesthetic gas with air, oxygen or nitrogen protoxide.
- Some parts ( USB
®
used for packaging, x-ray sensor) may result in suffocation if swallowed or used erroneously and inappropriately.
Avoid unintended, inappropriate and misuse and keep out of reach of children.
2.3 Maintenance and Disposal
The equipment does not contain any parts that can be repaired directly by the user. In the event of malfunctions, do
not try to perform any maintenance jobs. Contact the manufacturer or local dealer directly at the phone numbers given
on the warranty certificate. If the apparatus has to be returned to the manufacturer or Service Center for any reason,
completely disinfect the outside of the apparatus with a specific product (see paragraph "Cleaning and disinfecting")
and send it back preferably in its original box.
No electronic parts of the ZEN-X / ZEN-Xi system require maintenance. Devices may be broken, the protective means
for electric safety are violated and the warranty is void if the sensor or interface casings are opened to reach the circuits
inside.
Do not use the sensor on a patient if a system malfunction is present or suspected.
