10 Disposable covers

IMPORTANT INFORMATION !
The disposable protection control sheaths provided are mandatory to safeguard the patients against cross-contamina-
tion. The disposable protection control sheaths are class IIa medical devices. They must comply to standard ISO10993-
1 regarding biocompatibility. The disposable protection control sheaths cannot be replaced with others that are poorer
quality. Contact the dealer who supplied the sensor to obtain additional disposable protection control sheaths.
Disposable cover application instructions.
1) Place a disposable cover complete with its protective sheet on a flat surface. Introduce the sensor through the
opening at one end.
2) Push the sensor all the way into the disposable cover, paying attention not to break the transparent material.
3) If present, remove the protective support sheet.
The operation is now completed.
4) After use dispose of the covers as "special" waste.

11 Cleaning and disinfecting

Cleaning is the first step of any disinfecting process.
Physically scrubbing with detergents and surface-active substances and rinsing with water removes a considerable
amount of micro organisms. If a surface is not clean first, the disinfecting process cannot be successful. If a surface
cannot be adequately cleaned, it should be protected with barriers.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION !
The electronic interface's housing is not protected against the penetration of liquids.
Any surfaces that cannot be adequately cleaned should be protected with barriers.
The outside of the apparatus must be cleaned and disinfected with a hospital disinfectant labeled as effective against
human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) (i.e. low-level) or a hospital tuberculocidal disinfectant
o (i.e., intermediate-level) specifically designed for small surfaces.
Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions.
The great variety of medical and chemical products used in a dental practice may damage painted surfaces or plastic
materials parts. Tests and studies were conducted to prove that surfaces cannot be entirely protected against etching
by all the products available commercially. We therefore recommend to use protective barriers whenever this is pos-
sible.
The etching effect of chemicals also depends on surface exposure times.
It is therefore important not to leave the product used on the equipment surface to treat for longer than the working time
suggested by the manufacturer.

- OPERATING INSTRUCTION
Use of a positioner guarantees the sensor's sensitive area is centered
and that it is perpendicular with the x-ray tube. Use of a positioner is
strongly recommended. The clinician should choose the most suit-
able one based on his/her own experience.
