If while accelerating on an uneven track
the motorbike seems to be restrained,
turn the knob of 1-4 clicks (counter-
clockwise rotation).
NOTE: for RS 24 and RS 24/10
shock absorbers
Some rules should be followed while
performing calibration:
• be sure the spring is properly pre-
loaded before performing any other
adjustment on the hydraulic part (to
do this, it is advisable to completely
unbrake the shock absorber by turning
the knob counter –clockwise);
• do not turn for more than two clicks at
a time;
• do not turn the knob in the two
directions (clockwise and counter-
clockwise) in rapid succession;
• the knob should not stop in an
intermediate position between
two clicks.
After this procedure has been followed, it
is possible to go back and adjust spring
pre-loading, if desired.
In case of uncertainties on the way
to execute the above operations, do
not hesitate to get in touch with our
authorized technicians.
If our instructions are followed, the
installation of the shock absorber is going
to be easier. Normally, the adjustment
should not require more than 2-4 clicks
with respect to the standard adjustment
the shock absorber is delivered with.
Fitting instructions
Before starting the job, make sure that
the shock absorber you have purchased
is the right model for your type of vehicle,
that it is complete with every element
and that it has not been tampered.
It is then advisable to wash the vehicle,
especially the working area. Once the
old shock absorber has been removed,
proceed in fitting the new one making
sure that fixing is performed properly,
bolts are of the appropriate length and
their threads are perfect. During fitting
bolts should be lubricated, and nuts
tightened correctly. Make sure that
no negative allowances exist between
the shock absorber and other parts
of the bodywork or the frame. Make
sure that the small rubber bumpers
and the silentblock rings are in perfect
conditions; otherwise replace them with
new ones.
It is necessary to verify that the
suspension spring is not in contact with
the tyres.
The range of shock absorbers for
automatic scooters has been studied
case by case, and the available models
are only for standard tyres, not for
oversized ones.
In order to avoid contact between
suspension springs and tyres. Malossi
recommends reference to the sales
catalogue and its fitting instructions,
which show the misalignements studied
just for proper suspension fitting
and operation.
