4.1 Mounting of the actuator and
sensor
Select mounting location and mounting position of
actuator and sensor as follows:
The actuator and sensor must be difficult to ac-
cess by operating personnel when the protective
device is open.
Monitoring and replacement of actuator and sen-
sor must be possible.
The front ends of the actuator and sensor must
face each other at a distance of 0.8 S
when the protective device is closed; the changed
switching distances must be taken into account if
the sensor and/or actuator are flush-mounted
(refer to the technical specifications of the
corresponding actuators and sensors in section
8).
If the actuator and sensor move laterally, the
minimum distance s must be observed so as to
avoid entering the side lobe area of the sensor
(refer to the technical specifications of the
corresponding actuator and sensor in section 8).
The actuator and sensor must not be used as a
mechanical stop. Mount a separate stop if neces-
sary.
Furthermore, the protective device must be desig-
ned in such a way that
there is no risk to personnel while the protective
device has not reached the safe switching dis-
tance S (refer to the technical specifications of
