Joining station – Operating instructions

10 Function

The Joining station combines the handling functions "inspection" and "joining".
The station measures the alignment of the workpieces and decides whether a workpiece with the opening
facing upward receives a cap, or whether a workpiece with the opening facing downward is passed through
to the next station.

11 Sequence

11.1 Start-up prerequisites

•
No workpiece at the beginning of the conveyor belt in conveyor module 1
•
Cap ready on conveyor module 2

11.2 Initial position

•
Stopper advanced
• Deflector retracted
•
Conveyor motors off
•
Suction cup up
•
Slide retracted
•
Vacuum off
11.3 Sequence
1. Workpiece detected at start of conveyor module 1.
2. Conveyor motor switches on; workpiece is transported to next stopper.
3. Workpiece passes under first RFID write/read head; RFID tag is scanned.
4. Diffuse scan (optical proximity sensor with fiber-optic cable) upstream of stopper detects workpiece;
stopper retracted.
