RECORDING FOR AUTONOMOUS MODE - CONTINUED
TIPS FOR RECORDING A PLAN
• Do not record new plans during busy hours. For best results record the plan at a time when there aren't people walking around in the area,
so that people and moving obstacles are not included in the saved plan.
• Keep all four laser spots on the ground: avoid holes, stairways and reflective surfaces. See Figure 3-41.
• Avoid sharp turns; keep them
as smooth as possible.
• For CopyCat plans the start
and end points do not need to
be the same location.
• Be mindful of where you
will end the plan (only for
CopyCat) so that machine
is not blocking a doorway or
otherwise in the way when it
comes to a stop at the end of
the plan.
• CopyCat plans should
not exceed 90 minutes of
recording; longer plans may
not save
• Fill-In plan must be a closed
loop or it will fail to save. Do
not cross over your own route.
For example attempting to
record a figure 8 plan will
result in an error code.
• Fill-In plans must be recorded in a counter-clockwise direction. CopyCat plans can be recorded in any direction.
• When recording a Fill-In plan, make sure that the machine heading at the end of the path is aligned with the start heading (within 20
degrees) (see Figures 3-5 & 3-6) and not offset by more than about 1 foot. Note that after driving back through the start point you should
continue driving for another 25' (8m) until the machine comes to a stop. This extra overlap helps tie the ends of the plan together.
• For Fill-In plans; if machine is not replaying the recorded plan correctly, re-record the plan this time recording two loops. When the machine
stops on its own after recording the first loop plus 25' (8m), simply release and reapply the Go-Pedal (24) to resume recording the second
loop. See Figure 3-7. NOTE: If the machine does not stop on its own after driving the additional 25' (8m) it is an indication that two loops
should be driven to record the plan area.
• The machine's sensors can best detect obstacles within a recorded plan that are tall enough and thick enough (taller than 9" or thicker than
half an inch). If obstacles exist that are shorter or thinner than this they should be removed from the plan area prior to recording the plan
or place an object such as a tall garbage can in front of it to better record around.
• An exclusion zone can be created by using a tall garbage can for example placed over a floor outlet while recording. Once the recording is
done the garbage can is removed and the area will be avoided during replay.
