Checklist to be completed by manufacturer/fitter
when installing non-contact protective devices (NCPDs)
The information for points listed below must be provided at least at initial
commissioning. This applies regardless of the application to be inspected by the
manufacturer/fitter.
This checklist should be kept in a safe place or stored together with the machine
documentation so that it can be used for reference for future inspection.
1 . Has the safety code been based on the directives/standards applicable
for the machine?
2 . Are the applied directives and standards listed in the Declaration
of Conformity?
3 . Does the protective device satisfy the required control category?
4 . Is the hazardous area/point of operation only accessible via the protective
field of the non-contact protective device (NCPD)?
5 . If a hazardous area/point of operation is to be safeguarded, have appropriate
devices been installed which prevent personnel from entering the hazardous
area (mechanical point-of-operation guarding) or monitor personnel located
within the hazardous area? Have measures been taken to ensure that these
devices cannot be removed?
6 . Have additional mechanical protective measures been installed which prevent
personnel from reaching over, under, and around the protective field?
Are these protective measures tamper-proof?
7 . Has the maximum stopping time of the machine been measured and
indicated/documented (on the machine and/or in the machine
documentation)?
8 . Has the required safety distance been observed between the non-contact
protective device (NCPD) and the nearest point of operation?
