Storage battery
The SIROEndo Pocket is equipped with a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH)
storage battery.
The SIROEndo Pocket switches to the charging mode as soon as it is con-
nected to a power supply via the power supply unit.
The LED (13) indicates the status of the storage battery:
Green – means that the storage battery has a sufficient charge.
Battery
Red – means that the storage battery must be charged and that the unit can
be operated with the battery only for a few more minutes. During the last sec-
onds before the unit automatically switches off, an acoustic warning sounds
and the adjacent warning is displayed.
If this occurs, connect the unit to the supplied battery charger immediately. It
is also possible to use the SIROEndo Pocket while the battery is being
charged. Once the unit has automatically switched off, further treatment will
be possible only after you connect the unit to the battery charger.
Flashing orange – indicates that the charger is properly connected to the con-
nection socket on the rear panel of the unit and that the storage battery is being
charged. When the storage battery has been fully charged, the LED turns
green. If the storage battery is charged while the unit is switched off, the
LED remains green until the storage battery charger is connected to the power
supply. The unit can be operated for about two hours under storage battery
power; it takes roughly two to three hours for the storage battery to charge.
The storage battery charger of the SIROEndo Pocket generates enough
power to run the micromotor while at the same time charging the storage bat-
tery. The unit therefore can be operated while charging the storage battery.
We recommend performing the full charging process (which takes
about 2 - 3 hours).
WARNINGS:
To prolong the service life of the storage battery, we recommend always
operating the unit under storage battery power and then recharging the
storage battery when it is depleted.
Avoid charging the storage battery longer than necessary to reach its full
charge.
Never charge it continuously for more than twelve hours.
The bottom of the unit may heat up during the charging process.
If any liquids escape from the unit, thus indicating a possible leak in the
storage battery, stop working immediately. Then forward the unit to an
authorized service engineer in order to have it inspected for possible
damage.
It is dangerous to use the unit with a leaky storage battery.
Opening the unit by loosening the four screws on its bottom, voids the
warranty.
When replacing the storage battery, make sure that the old storage bat-
tery is disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.
